The sun brings joy and energy – but can age skin prematurely. Read why it's important to protect your skin from UV damage if you want to avoid wrinkles and early signs of aging.

Why is it important to use sunscreen?
For only a few months of the year does the sun shine and the temperature creep above 15 degrees here. So while summer is here, it's time to enjoy the weather and recharge before autumn and winter make us want to hibernate again.
Although it's wonderful to enjoy the sun's warm rays during the few weeks of good weather here, it's important to protect your skin from the sun. Sunlight is the most common cause of skin damage and wrinkles. Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation in sunlight changes the skin and can cause fine lines, wrinkles, and brown spots. And if your skin is very fair, it's even more vulnerable because the skin isn't protected by the melanin that darker skin naturally has more of.
Protect your skin from sun damage
With an SPF, you are well protected against early signs of aging caused by UV damage. In fact, a good sunscreen is the most important product in an anti-aging skincare routine and your greatest shield against dark spots, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.
Harmful UV rays can be present even when it's raining and cloudy. A good anti-aging skincare routine consists of a good cleanser, toner, exfoliant, serum, eye cream, and moisturizer. These products are all important for younger and healthier-looking skin, but none of them can replace the effect a good SPF has in the summer. Because if you don't protect your skin from the sun's rays, your skin will be damaged.
Has the damage already been done? Then it's never too late to protect your skin. Not even if you already have wrinkles and dark spots due to many years of unprotected sun exposure. If you start today, some of the visible signs of skin aging caused by the sun can be improved – regardless of your age.

Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen
It is important that the sunscreen you use is broad-spectrum. This means it protects your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. UV rays can penetrate glass, meaning they will cause damage to your skin even when you are at home, in the car, or in the office. As soon as there is daylight, UV rays cause sun damage.
There are two types of radiation: UVB and UVA. UVB are the rays that cause sunburn, and thus those that have a noticeable harmful effect. But even if you don't feel the damage caused by UVA rays in the same way, they are present 365 days a year. Therefore, it's a good idea to use broad-spectrum sun protection on your face every single day.
Our Sun Lotion SPF 15 is good daily protection on spring and winter days when the UV index is not as high as it can be in summer.
Do you need a little higher protection? Then choose our Sun Lotion SPF 30, which provides stable protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

How to use facial sunscreen
Facial sunscreen should be applied after all your other skincare and before makeup, if you use it. Apply a generous amount to your face, neck, décolleté, and other unprotected areas of your skin. Apply a visible layer of sunscreen and massage it into the skin. Then wait a few minutes before applying your makeup. This gives the SPF time to be properly absorbed.
