Allergenic fragrances are substances that the body's immune system can potentially react allergically to. Fragrance allergy is one of the most common causes of contact eczema, and people with sensitive skin are particularly vulnerable. 26 fragrance substances are listed and considered to be particularly allergenic, and therefore the law, according to the Cosmetics Order which came into force on March 11, 2005, mandates that these must be declared on the packaging if the concentration of one or more of the 26 fragrance substances exceeds 0.001% in cosmetics.
Parabens are a collective term for a group of 6 preservatives consisting of Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Isopropylparaben, and Isobutylparaben.
For more than 60 years, they have typically been used in cosmetics such as creams, shampoos, and make-up to prevent bacterial and fungal growth and product degradation, making them some of the most well-documented preservatives on the market. Parabens are active against a broad spectrum of bacteria and prevent products from spoiling and causing infection. At the same time, they are mild on the skin, and only very few people develop allergies to them.
The content of parabens in cosmetic products in Denmark is regulated according to the Ministry of Environment's executive order on cosmetic products, so they are limited to concentrations that, according to dermatologists, only very rarely cause allergies.
4 out of 6 parabens are included on the EU's list of substances suspected of being endocrine disruptors, and the extensive debate among scientists and in the media about whether parabens are endocrine disruptors has created great uncertainty among consumers.
However, parabens are not identical, and their actions and effects are therefore not the same. It is important to distinguish between the different parabens. Some are completely harmless, and some may be questionable.
If you are unsure about the use of parabens, you can avoid them entirely and choose products with other preservatives.
Raunsborg® Nordic contains no parabens.
Raunsborg Nordic products have a shelf life of 12 months after opening. The shelf life can be reduced by storing the products improperly. We recommend that the products be stored at room temperature and that you avoid introducing impurities or bacteria into them.
Raunsborg® Nordic is the result of a close collaboration between fashion expert Jim Lyngvild and the company Plum, which produces skincare products for industry and the Danish healthcare system. Jim Lyngvild has contributed his creativity, inspiration, and knowledge of the unique properties hidden in nature's plants, herbs, and flowers, while Plum's laboratory has provided many years of experience and expertise in product development.
The name Raunsborg® comes directly from Jim's Viking fortress Ravnsborg, while the beauty series is inspired by the riches of Nordic nature. Nature itself can create small miracles, and by exploring the centuries-old book Flora Danica about Nordic plants, we have found forgotten descriptions that we have brought back to life. By utilising the effective properties of carefully selected Nordic herbs and using them constructively, we have created a unique product. Raunsborg® is Nordic beauty – simply put.
If you would like an explanation of the products' ingredients, you can find our ingredient list here.
It's a very conscious decision that Raunsborg is not organic. Many people mistakenly confuse natural and organic products with allergy-friendly products.
In principle, you can become allergic to anything, and there's no guarantee that a product is organic or natural. Many organic products, for instance, contain essential oils that typically include allergens.
Often, one doesn't have the same control over the ingredients in organic and natural products as in chemically manufactured products. Furthermore, the bacteriology in non-organic products is easier to manage. With chemical manufacturing, one can precisely describe which ingredients are in the products and in what quantity. This benefits users and especially those with allergies.
The Danish Consumer Council has published the EU's list of 17 endocrine-disrupting products. None of Raunsborg's products contain these substances. See the list here
We receive many questions about the difference between eye serum and eye cream. In fact, the difference is not very big, and often it's just what the manufacturer chooses to call the product.
The difference between serum and cream is mostly the consistency, with serum being more gel-like in consistency. Some eye creams also cannot "stand alone" and require you to use a day or night cream on top of your eye cream.
Raunsborg eye cream is a mix between an eye cream and an eye serum; the consistency is a blend between a cream and a serum and can easily be used alone. So let your skin decide if the eye cream is enough or if your skin needs a cream on top.
SLS is found in 90 percent of shampoos, laundry detergents, toothpastes, and similar products that you use very closely on your body. The most important purpose of a shampoo is to dissolve fats in the hair and especially in the scalp. The cleansing agents in your shampoo are responsible for this. The most commonly used cleansing agents are Sodium Laureth Sulfate (abbreviated SLES) and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (abbreviated SLS).
These sulfates can cause a dry and irritated scalp and simultaneously damage the hair shaft's protective surface (the cuticle layer), resulting in the hair becoming less resistant to environmental factors and at the same time not appearing healthy and shiny, because sulfates also break down the proteins from the hair's core.
So, if you want to protect your hair as best as possible and at the same time have healthy and strong hair, you should choose a sulfate-free shampoo.
Raunsborg shampoo does not contain SLES and SLS.
Silicone is often used in cosmetics because it has a softening and conditioning effect on the skin/hair. We do not use silicone in Raunsborg's products, as it can form a film on the skin/hair. When used in hair products, it will create a kind of build-up effect, making the hair heavy and limp, and perhaps appear a little greasy over time. To get rid of this feeling, you need to wash with a silicone-free shampoo. There are many different types of silicones, some light and others heavier/greasier.
When silicone is used and it forms a film on the skin and hair, it also prevents the active ingredients from penetrating the skin and hair.
Both of Raunsborg's 2 deodorants/antiperspirants contain 1% aluminum. During development, we have been very focused on using the lowest possible amount of aluminum while still achieving a sufficient antiperspirant effect. By using a combination of a salt containing zirconium and aluminum, Raunsborg has been able to achieve an exceptionally good effect. And even though the amount of aluminum has been minimized, you achieve just as effective, or even better, antiperspirant effect. Furthermore, all our products undergo a safety assessment before being launched on the market. This is our guarantee that they comply with the applicable requirements of the cosmetics regulation and are safe for consumers to use.

1000 good reasons to choose Raunsborg
Product development takes a long time when everything has to be developed from scratch, and you don't simply buy a quick "recipe" for a standard product, as many beauty brands do.
At Raunsborg, it takes about 1 year from when a new product is on the drawing board until it is
ready for launch on the shelf in your store. That may sound like a lot, but there are many things that need to come together before a product is finished.
Did you know, for example:
that our products are always tested by at least 100 test subjects before they can be launched? The test subjects evaluate the product and give it a rating. If the product does not score above 4 out of 5 possible points – where 1 is the lowest score and 5 is the highest – then it has "failed" and must return to the laboratory, which adjusts the formula before the product is sent for testing again.
The product is evaluated based on several parameters; effect, consistency, scent, how the product penetrates the skin, feels on the skin, and is compared to a similar product that the test subject already uses.
