Hand hygiene is an important and effective weapon against infection!

Clean hands are the best defense against infection. Therefore, the only proper way to break the chain of infection is to wash your hands thoroughly with water and mild soap many times a day. Use hand sanitizer on dry and visibly clean hands regularly after washing, and when water is not readily available. Thorough washing with soap and water removes viruses and bacteria and leaves hands clean. Hand sanitizer kills them.
Neither method can replace the other; together they are most effective.

Correct handwashing:

Wet hands and wrists before applying soap
Distribute soap on each finger, between fingers, on the back of the hand, on the palm, and around the wrist
Rub mechanically for at least 15 seconds
Rinse with cold/lukewarm water
Dry with a disposable towel
